The programme focuses on providing a deeper understanding of design, visual arts and architecture. Our graduates go on to study for various master’s degrees or work at cultural institutions and agencies.
The goal is to train professionals who are able to provide a complex (art history, social science, philosophical and communication theory) analysis of design and visual arts.

Can tolerance be taught? This is the fundamental question that underpins Ágnes Kapitány and Gábor Kapitány’s research. For them, cultural anthropology is not just a discipline but a powerful tool to make the world a better place. On 28 November, the prestigious Moholy-Nagy Award, symbolising the university’s deep appreciation, was presented to them by Rector Pál Koós during the university’s annual Autumn Title Award and Moholy-Nagy Award Ceremony.
Design permeates every corner of the world, incorporates the sometimes opposite values of functionality and aesthetics, and is centered around the living human body – the soma. The recently published Somaesthetics and Design Culture, co-edited by DLA programme lead of the MOME Doctoral School Bálint Veres and world-renowned aesthete-philosopher Richard Shusterman (Florida Atlantic University) explores these issues in a greater depth.
In the spring semester, a presentation series under the title Human Ecology and Design took place with coordination by the MOME Institute for Theoretical Studies and Péter Haba and participation of ELTE’s Human Ecology MA. Video recordings of the presentations are now publicly available for viewing.
