Dear MOME Alumni,

We are proud of our constantly growing community of current and former students producing outstanding artworks and innovative solutions. We believe our success stems from our human relationships, and the key to this success lies in our professional and supportive community.

To continue building these relationships, we offer professional programmes, exclusive offers, and valuable resources to support our Alumni members throughout their entire journey.

Join the MOME Alumni community by clicking on the link below.

The MOME Alumni Mentor Programme includes three Master's programmes: the Art and Design Management MA,  Architecture MA and Fashion and Textile Design MA. Designed to connect current students with MOME alumni, the career-themed programme enables graduates to offer mentorship and guidance to the next generation. Through the formation of mentor-mentee pairs, mentors provide support via personal consultation, drawing on their professional experiences, while mentees can gain valuable perspectives on career opportunities after graduation, ask questions about specific fields, and build their professional networks. This initiative allows the latest industry experiences of MOME’s alumni community to be directly shared within the University.

What are the materials of the future? Which skills are essential for securing employment? What career paths are available for designers? How can I secure intellectual property protection for my works?  And how can I market them? Join us to improve your CV, portfolio, and personal brand, develop your products, build valuable professional connections, and discover the career journeys of MOME’s alumni community.

Alumni Garden Party

Let's welcome summers together on the MOME Campus. We warmly invite our former students to the MOME Alumni Garden Party at the end of each academic year, where staff and alumni can get together in an informal setting. Following tradition, the gatherings start with a cookout offering participants a free choice of what dish to prepare. In 2024, the event took place on 28 June. Visit our gallery below to view photos of the event.

In a remarkable achievement, Wish You Were Ear, an animated diploma film from MOME’s Animation department, has won the prestigious Crystal Bear for Best Short Film at this year’s Berlinale. Sponsored by the National Film Institute (NFI), the film was lauded by the Berlinale Generation 14+ jury for its poignant reminder of how communication, mutual respect, and understanding are essential to human existence, no matter how varied our individual experiences may be. The award was presented on Friday evening at the 75th Berlin International Film Festival to Balogh, a MOME graduate from the class of 2024.

Every object carries a story, but do minimalist contemporary furniture pieces also tell a story, and if so, what is it? This question is explored by the Fragments collection making its debut at the Stockholm Furniture Fair, one of the largest furniture exhibitions in the world. The artists behind this collection are the members of the MAIII Collective, a group of recent graduates from the MOME Product Design master's programme. Their narrative objects will be featured in the Greenhouse section, which provides a platform for emerging designers to showcase their work.

Another triumph: MOME diploma film competes at the Berlinale! Mirjána Balogh’s animation Wish You Were Ear will represent Hungary at the 75th Berlin International Film Festival, one of the world’s most prestigious film festivals, which begins on 13 February. Created in 2024 as a diploma film at the Animation programme of Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design (MOME), with support from the National Film Institute (NFI), the film will make its international debut in the Generation 14+ programme. Selected from thousands of entries, this thought-provoking animation explores how romantic relationships leave lasting impressions on our sense of self.

The winners of the 2024 Ezüstgerely Art Competition included several MOME alumni. Graphic Design alumna Beáta Bencsik shared first place in the Graphic Art category, while Media Design alumna Violetta Vigh took the top prize in the Installation category. Organised by the National Sports Agency, this long-standing award dating back decades celebrates the intersection of sport and art, offering significant cash prizes.

“A piece from which its owner can draw strength" – this is how designer Bálint Szalai described the new Highlights of Hungary award trophy, co-designed with fellow designer Adrienn Király as the prestigious event marks the beginning of its second decade this year. This year’s recipients were the first to hold the new trophy, while the Kreatív Magazine special award was presented to MOME senior lecturer and designer of the Your Nature collection Apol Temesi. All three designers are proud MOME alumni who remain closely connected to their alma mater.

Arts Thread, the leading digital platform for emerging designers and artists, is organising the 5th Global Creative Graduate Showcase, which lists the most exciting diploma projects of art and design graduates from all over the world. This year over 5000 students uploaded their diploma projects. The independent expert panel of Arts Thread created the shortlist, and it is now the audience’s turn to vote. The 2024 shortlist includes 11 fresh MOME graduates!

Elle magazine is organising the third ELLE Decoration International Design Awards Hungary (EDIDA) event to celebrate outstanding Hungarian designers. This year there are many MOME alumni on the shortlist once again, in the ‘Young Designer of the Year’, ‘Product of the Year’, ‘Brand of the Year’ and ‘Sustainable Initiative of the Year’ categories.

How can design respond to the complex challenges of our time? What methods can be used to preserve traditional knowledge while embracing cutting-edge technological advancements? The Challenging Future exhibition in London, showcasing the most outstanding diploma projects from MOME, seeks to answer these fundamental questions and reflects the university’s mission to address the most pressing issues of the 21st century through a synthesis of design-based education, research, and practical expertise.
