Students can develop traditional craftmanship combining contemporary creative awareness and the latest technologies, enabling transdisciplinary collaborations in art, craft and design.
The first year of the BA programme includes the integrated foundation training, and the second year, the specific professional training. The complete training spectrum is covered by the Ceramic Design, Glass Design, Jewellery Design and Digital Object Design BA specialisations.
The diploma work and the professional portfolio at the end of the third year provides a synthesis of design, creative art and scientific areas, promoting the creative self-actualisation of the emerging artists and laying the foundations for continuing their studies at MA level.

Iris Aruwa, who graduated from the Ceramic programme at the Secondary School of Visual and Applied Arts, will continue her studies at MOME’s Designer-Maker programme from September. She is the first participant of the Tomorrow Belongs to You – For the Creative Talents of the Future scholarship programme to successfully gain admission to MOME. Previously, she applied to MOME's Animation programme without success. The scholarship programme has now enabled her to find a track where she can succeed.

The works created by the latest generation of product design students of Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design (MOME), presented at the S/ALON BUDAPEST home trend fair on 22 to 24 September at the Budapest Arena all share a focus on the passion for the traditions of handcrafting, sustainability, innovation, and emotional connection. Uniquely in Hungary, the fair showcases the latest home decor trends, furniture, lighting solutions, flooring and wall coverings, home textiles, and accessories in extraordinary interiors, and is centered around the relationship of design and nature.

The collaboration between the Centre for Energy Research (CER) and MOME gave an opportunity to Designer-Maker students to take on a real job with a real client for interdisciplinary design to design award trophies. From the ten concepts completed over the semester, the ones bought for further use were selected in June. The award trophies will be used to recognise the outstanding achievements of junior associates and commemorate the work anniversaries of members of staff with decades of history with the Centre.

The lab introduces modern technology into the world of object creation. Technologies in the workshop include: Laser cutting, Engraving, 3D printing, 3D scanning, Vinyl film cutting (plotter cutting), ceramic decal printing, Prototyping. There are four computers available to students. Kindly take into consideration that printing may last up to 10–20 hours, so please find out any necessary information in time. Please bring your 3D models in .stl format.

The Metalworker Workshop serves as the venue for learning about and practicing traditional and modern technologies that are closely linked to metalworking. Students can apply the theoretical and practical knowledge they learn under teacher supervision, but independently while modelling, completing or while their objects are being constructed. It is important for students to become capable of leveraging experience gained during the workshop creatively while solving their assignments, taking into account design criteria and requirements.

Ceramic, glass and porcelain objects are modelled and their moulds are created in the Plaster Workshop, but the works of other departments needing plaster moulds are also served here. Moulds are created on the one hand on the plaster lathes by turning, and, on the other hand, on the marble tables by plaster casting, using patterns or by wood-carving. In a separated part of the workshop, there is an area suitable for metal- and woodworking equipped with a vice, a bench drill, a grinder, and handheld power tools. Silicone casting can also be carried out in the workshop.
