Contemporary Fashion Dynamics
An extraordinary fashion symposium will feature prominent international speakers, culminating in a keynote lecture by fashion historian, curator, and Director of the Museum at New York’s Fashion Institute of Technology Valerie Steele entitled Fashion in the Museum: A History of Collecting & Exhibiting Fashion.
Valerie Steele's influential work in the field of fashion curation has significantly shaped the way museums approach collecting and exhibiting fashion. Her presentation, Fashion in the Museum: A History of Collecting & Exhibiting Fashion, explores the evolution of fashion as an art form within the museum space, highlighting Steele's contributions to legitimizing fashion as a subject worthy of academic and curatorial focus. Through examining key exhibits and curatorial milestones, the presentation sheds light on how fashion has been embraced as a powerful cultural artifact, redefining its place in the arts and historical discourse.
The event also includes engaging presentations and discussions exploring contemporary issues at the intersection of fashion, culture, media, and society. Speakers include Professor at the University of Bologna Stefano Marino, Junior Research Fellow at Corvinus University Emese Dobos, Head of Programme and lecturer Anna Keszeg PhD, and textile artist and researcher Temesi Apol DLA. Each lecture will be followed by a discussion and audience Q&A
