Symposium: Worlds of Fashion – From the Periphery to the Centre With Linda Loppa

How are the centres of the fashion industry shifting in the 21st century? Which regions are moving to the margins, and who are redrawing the global fashion map?

The MOME symposium explores the transformation of fashion’s global geography and the role played by our region in this process.

The event opens with a roundtable moderated by associate professor Anna Keszeg, featuring fashion curator and consultant Linda Loppa, representatives of the Hungarian Fashion and Design Agency, and editor-in-chief of Glamour Hungary Krisztina Maróy.  The roundtable is followed by a lecture by Linda Loppa on the cultural, emotional, and intellectual power of fashion in a changing global context. The programme wraps up with an open conversation inviting questions from the audience to Linda Loppa and the panellists.

With over fifty years of experience, Linda Loppa is an internationally renowned fashion educator, curator, and creative director, and a leading figure of the European fashion world. She headed the fashion department at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts Antwerp for twenty-five years, led the MoMu fashion museum, and later became director and now strategic advisor at Polimoda in Florence. She founded the Linda Loppa Factory, a laboratory supporting art and education projects and collaborating with leading institutions such as MoMA in New York and the University of the Arts London. She has served on juries for prestigious awards including LVMH and ANDAM, authored Life Is a Vortex and The New Fashion Container Project, is a BoF500 Hall of Fame member, and holds an honorary doctorate from the University of the Arts London.
