MOME ZERO
MOME Zero also includes active involvement in off-campus climate protection projects, the launch of research & development projects supporting sustainable operations, and related tender activities.
From 2022, MOME will organise all its activities in alignment with the principles of sustainability in an effort to achieve complete net carbon neutrality by 2030. The green transition will affect every area of the university’s operations from improving the efficiency of energy consumption and waste reduction to introducing paperless administrative processes.
Let's act together
MOME Forest
MOME's task is clear: in the years ahead, we need to reduce our energy consumption, increase the share of renewable energy sources in our operations, and, among other things, eliminate paper and food waste. We know that even if we do everything right, part of MOME's emissions will still remain with us. Therefore:
1.step
The university is launching its own forest planting action that is unique to the country. Joining forces with three major Hungarian national parks, we will develop new forests over an area of 50 hectares to neutralise MOME’s emissions in the future.
2.step
MOME's community works in collaboration with forest engineers and environmental protection professionals to plant and manage the forests. University citizens master the basics of ecological awareness that are essential in the 21st century during fieldwork.
3.step
As part of the MOME Zero activities, our students can gain tangible knowledge about the interaction between nature and man, and the principles underlying sustainable design through university education.
