The MOME Graphic Design programme has enjoyed a productive and successful period, with students and teachers both receiving several international accolades in recent months.

MOME Graphic Design has always enjoyed substantial international visibility, and the past months have brought even more accolades to both students and teachers of the programme. The most recent ones include first prize in the Typography category of the Brands and Communication Design section of the Red Dot Award earned by our teacher Péter Bence Simon. His award-winning TYPO LANTERNS poster was commissioned by the KECD (Korea Ensemble of Contemporary Design) on the theme of ‘Beautiful Seoul’.

Sára Olívia Torma received the gold for her Requiem for a Dream and Róza Répás the silver for her Kökörcsin Art Book, while Péter Tóth’s BETU Type Specimen earned him the special prize. Our instructor Péter Bence Simon, who organised participation of the students in the competition, curated the exhibition material, and mentored students applying, was also honoured with the silver prize in the Best Professor Work category.

We are pleased to share the news that two other Graphic Design students, Zsuzsa Oláh (BA) and Dorottya Nagy (MA) were also awarded prizes in the Student section of the international outstanding Applied Arts Awards design competition that students receiving the Best of Graphics Award in the 2023 autumn semester were entered into.

Opportunities created for young people will positively impact all of our futures A new chapter is beginning in the life of MOME. The institution, which has played a definitive role in Hungary's design culture in addition to being an innovator in higher education, is set to elevate its operations further through the "University of the Future" programme. The new rector of MOME, designer Pál Koós, began his term on August 1st, supported in an innovative manner by Dr Petra Aczél, communication and media researcher, as Vice-Rector for Excellence, and Lili Érmezei, photographer and organisational psychologist, as Vice-Rector for Strategy and Development. What new leadership competencies and formats are required by a university undergoing transformation? What do a highly effective organisation and a perfectly designed three-legged stool have in common?
