MOME BALANCE: A unique programme for lifestyle change

Date: 2025.03.07
As part of the FISU Healthy Campus initiative, the Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design (MOME) launched the MOME Balance programme in 2024, a pioneering initiative in Hungary that supports conscious lifestyle changes. The programme aims to help maintain health, prevent stress, and combat burnout through a comprehensive, integrated system that combines physical activity, proper nutrition, and lifestyle coaching.

This eight-week programme offers personalised consultations, nutrition and fitness plans, as well as professional talks. Participants were able to explore a range of topics, including fundamental lifestyle changes, sleep and recovery, sustainable integration of physical activity into the daily routine, reducing the harmful effects of modern life, and mental wellbeing. The presentations were open to the entire university community, providing students and staff with an opportunity to gain a holistic understanding of how to maintain their health over the long term.

Thirteen staff members took part in the interactive phase, which ran from October to December, working closely with lifestyle coaches, keeping nutrition diaries, and receiving one-on-one consultations focusing on exercise, mental health, stress management, and nutrition.

One of the programme's key supporters, Technogym, provided participants with a comprehensive health assessment using its latest innovation, the Checkup 9000. This unique device is the only one of its kind capable of simultaneously measuring body composition, balance, and mobility, while also conducting cognitive and strength tests. The integrated software enables smooth connectivity with other Technogym machines and the accompanying app allows users to track their progress and results. Based on the resulting data, participants received personalised workout plans, which they could follow using the Technogym equipment available at MOME.

The other main professional partner of the programme, BioTech USA, contributed high-quality nutritional supplements as well as personalised expert advice and training. Drawing on its internationally recognised expertise and track record, the company helped participants develop optimal diets and nutritional habits.

Given its proven success, the MOME Balance programme will continue in 2025 and expand to include additional professional talks, individual consultations, and academic and research partnerships. Technogym and BioTech USA will remain active sponsors of the programme, which, through its integrated approach to movement, nutrition, and lifestyle coaching, supports long-term health maintenance and sustainable lifestyle changes.

Six participants in the ‘Tomorrow Belongs to You – For the creative talents of the future’ 2025 scholarship programme are about to begin their BA studies at MOME, while three others have been admitted to the University of Szeged, Óbuda University, and the Hungarian University of Fine Arts. The numbers speak for themselves: the second cohort of the scholarship, launched in 2023, has truly helped its students take their first steps towards a creative career, transforming them from high schoolers into university students.
