The Hungarian Diaspora Scholarship was established by the Hungarian Government for those who live in a Hungarian diaspora outside of Europe and wish to study at a Hungarian higher education institution.

Eligibility criteria
The Hungarian Diaspora Scholarship Programme covers all countries and regions of the world EXCEPT:
- the member states of the European Union,
- the Republic of Serbia, and
- the Zakarpatska Oblast region of Ukraine.
Applicants must have Hungarian roots and maintain a Hungarian identity and must make a statement that he/she has lived outside the territory of Hungary for at least 10 years before the submission of their application. The applicant was born on or before 31 August 2006.

Provisions
100% tuition fee coverage
Access to the Hungarian national health care services and supplementary medical insurance for up to HUF 65,000 (cca. 177 USD) a year/person.
Non-degree, bachelor’s, master’s and one-tier master’s level: monthly amount of HUF 43,700 (cca. 119 USD) contribution to the living expenses in Hungary, for 12 months a year, for the whole duration of the scholarship period.
Free dormitory place or a contribution of HUF 40,000/month to accommodation costs for the whole duration of the scholarship period.
One-occasion travel allowance of HUF 330,000 (cca. 897 USD) if the distance between Budapest and the applicant’s place of residence (=city/town) is 8,000 km or more.
Please note that the scholarship only partially covers living expenses, so students may need additional funds.

MOME admission procedures
Your institutional admission process’s 1st step (portfolio submission) will be completed during your scholarship application between 15 November 2024 – 31 January 2025.
The 2nd part (admission interview) will be scheduled in April 2025.
