Sebastian is a speculative designer with a background in horticulture. His goal is to demystify the romantic vision of nature in order to uncover environmental conflicts. Through his phyto-centered research, he advocates for alternative design methods and social engagement.

Biography

designed and built gardens that bring together human and more-than-human participants in Vienna, Munich and London. His knowledge of botany and horticulture guides his Budapest-based creative practice, Fuzzy Earth, which he co-founded in 2020. Sebastian’s works, which he has made in a number of countries, infiltrate unexpected spaces such as market halls, sandy beaches, domestic spaces, and gardens. His research-based project, Not Quite California Wonder was displayed at Igor Metropol (Hungary, 2020), at the Budapest Design Week (Hungary, 2020), at the Off-Biennale (Hungary, 2021) as part of the Menü Imaginare program series, at PLACCC art festival (Hungary, 2021) in Budapest, and at the A4 part of the White Night festival in Bratislava (Slovakia, 2022). He also launched a public sculpture, Shimmer at Gárdonyi Square in Budapest (Hungary, 2021).
