Biography
Judit Eszter Kárpáti DLA is an interdisciplinary textile artist and postdoctoral researcher at the MOME Innovation Center’s Soft Interfaces Lab. Her practice and research focuses on hybrid materiality, dynamic surfaces and the interconnections between textiles and digital media. She explores the cultural, technological and aesthetic implications of this.
She obtained a Doctor of Liberal Arts degree at MOME in 2019. She is engaged in various education initiatives, holding workshops and lectures on new media art and technology, including at Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts, the Royal Academy of Fine Arts (KASK), Angewandte University of Applied Art Vienna and Queen Mary University of London.
She received a Hungarian Eötvös State Scholarship both in 2016 and 2021 for her pre- and postdoctoral research. Her work was recognised by the Japan Media Arts Festival (JP), and at the prestigious Techtextile (DE) among others.
She is a co-founder of the renowned EJTECH Studio. Her work has been presented at numerous art galleries, museums and festivals, including the European Media Arts Festival (DE), the Smithsonian Hirshhorn Museum (US), Milan Design Week (IT), Dutch Design Week (NL), Design Museum Holon (IL) and the Ludwig Museum (HU). She has also had work commissioned for feature films and commercial brands, including Blade Runner 2049, and Christian Dior.
