For many years, she has been a key educator at the Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design. The quality with which she creates her works also extends to her work as a lecturer. She did significant work as the head of the Textile Department for 14 years, and she had been a university professor leading the MOME Doctoral School between 2019 and 2024.
Biography
Textile designer Hedvig Harmati creates works of outstanding quality in the applied and experimental genres. Her textiles, which are suitable for small and large-scale industrial use and fully take into account technological possibilities, have received important awards (e.g. Hungarian Design Awards 2002, Hungarian Textile Biennale Szombathely 1998, 1st Textile Triennale Szombathely 2003).
Alongside applied designs and pieces, a significant part of her work consists of experimental projects. Her design work can be traced through a series of international and domestic exhibitions, publications and awards. In 2016 she received the Hungarian Design Award in the Design category. Her collection highlights the parallels between architectural structural management and textile design at a world-class level. In 2017 she was recognised with a state accolade, the Ferenczy Noémi Award. These awards also demonstrate that she is constantly present in her field and strives to propel it into the future.
