The first recipients of the ‘Tomorrow belongs to you - for the creative talents of the future’ scholarship program have been chosen.

Date: 2024.02.03
As one of the most significant social responsibility commitments in the history of MOME, in the summer of 2023, we announced a unique, comprehensive nation-wide scholarship and talent program in Hungarian higher education titled "Tomorrow belongs to you – For the creative talents of the future’. The program aims to support and guide students from disadvantaged backgrounds, ensuring their journey to a successful university admission.

Over the span of two full years, through personal mentoring, the focus extends beyond the creative preparation and compilation of admission portfolios for talented young individuals. Attention is also given to their mental health and boosting self-confidence, involving both educators and parents.

The joint initiative of the Foundation for Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design and Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design will involve the selected students in preparatory and workshop sessions, consultations, and various community activities, with guidance and support from mentors and university students throughout the entire process. The programme is designed to empower students with solid, future-proof knowledge, experience, and confidence they can later put to use in any area of life.

“Our new programme is specifically directed at reaching out to disadvantaged high school-age talents living far from the capital, using a systematic and long-term approach. We see success as a participant gaining admission not just to Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design, but to any higher education institution, and as catalysing a shift in perspective for them”, said President of the MOME Foundation Gergely Böszörményi-Nagy.

In the program's inaugural year, nearly a hundred students applied, the personal interviews concluded at the end of January: our team of experts met with applicants in Pécs, Békéscsaba, Miskolc, and Debrecen. The selection process finished on our Campus in Budapest; a total of 83 high school students were interviewed. During these occasions, it was important for us to understand the challenges students face, what interests them, and how they envision their further education.

The scholarship recipients of the Tomorrow Belongs to You program will begin their semester of creative skill development training on February 9th at the opening event held on the MOME Campus. The participants will get to know each other and meet the mentoring team consisting of MOME students for the first time over the weekend.

The team of experts includes certified therapist, talent management professional Éva Gyarmathy, product designer, MOME General Deputy Rector, the next Rector of the university Pál Koós, philosopher, literary author, associate professor at MOME and head of the student mentoring programme Eszter Babarczy, psychologist Eszter Lóki, doctoral student and former scholarship recipient of the MCC Roma Talent Programme Renáta Rontó, group lead for upward convergence at the Hungarian Interchurch Aid Anett Jákfalvi, and professional advisor of the programme, Managing Director of the National Talent Centre, Dóra Sándor-Kovács. Year by year, they will contribute their extensive knowledge and expertise towards supporting the initiative and they were responsible for selecting the scholarship recipients.
