MOME and the Hungarian National Museum enters into collaboration

Date: 2024.10.18
The recently signed collaboration framework agreement between the Hungarian National Museum (MNMKK) and Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design (MOME) includes plans to organise joint events and exhibitions, as well as launching a shared internship programme. The first project under the agreement will be implemented as part of the temporary exhibition Shine! – The Age of Jewellery, opening on 19 October and featuring works by MOME students and lecturers.

The collaboration agreement between MNMKK and MOME was signed in a ceremonial event at the National Museum on Wednesday by Director-General of the Hungarian National Museum's National Centre of Conservation Dr Gábor Zsigmond and Rector of the university Pál Koós. The primary aim of this collaboration is to broaden the professional horizons of both institutions and share theoretical and practical knowledge, as well as professional networks. These resources will drive the execution of joint initiatives, such as co-organised events and exhibitions, the launch of an internship scheme, the development of joint courses and further training opportunities, and the opportunity for museum staff to enrol in MOME's specialised training programmes.

The first milestone in this partnership will be the joint effort behind the temporary exhibition Shine! – The Time of Jewellery, which presents masterpieces from the museum's 222-year-old collection, covering 40,000 years of human history, alongside works by MOME students and faculty. Following the opening, contemporary jewellery and artistic reflections from MOME will be on display in the museum’s Cupola Hall. The accompanying events will include a guided tour led by the curator on 9 November and a joint roundtable discussion on 17 December.
