Throughout our lives, the psychological traumas, injuries and wounds we suffer leave their marks on us, and they gradually layer, cover, deepen or complement each other. This collection of garments analyses and visualises this process by showing how different materials react when treated in different ways such as burning or destruction. The garment collection was made with the use of natron solution and experiments with burning organic and synthetic textiles. The starting point was to design organic checkered patterns inspired by the snail shell shapes found in medieval manuscripts and the battle scenes between the snails and the knights. The collection consists of layers of complex, hand-painted garments, which the designer sees as abstracted representations of Gothic dresses or as shell-like "sculptures" achieved through manipulating the materials.
