EKSIG 2025

How do we engage with data beyond the purely quantitative? How does making with data shape our understanding of space, materiality, and embodied experience?

EKSIG 2025, hosted by Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design Budapest, explores data as an evolving and experiential medium in art, design, and research. Traditionally associated with scientific observation and analysis, data has transformed into a material that can be sensed, shaped, and interpreted through creative practice. From physical manifestations like 3D-printed models and interactive installations to speculative and generative design approaches, data has become a bridge between scientific inquiry and artistic expression.

This conference will bring together researchers, designers, and artists to examine how data informs making at different scales, how cultural and social contexts influence data-driven design, and how embodied engagements with data challenge traditional perspectives. Through keynote talks, paper presentations, and discussions, EKSIG 2025 will explore the intersections of data, materiality, and creative practice.

Join us in for a thought-provoking exchange on how data is reshaping our perceptions, processes, and the way we create. More details and tickets: https://eksig2025.mome.hu/
